Gesture Typing is basically Google’s take on SWYPE typing where the user drags his fingers across letters on the virtual keyboard to type out sentences. Google says the gesture recognizer keeps working all the time in the back-end, which means that the recognizer will adapt to the user.
Matching Apple punch for punch in Android 4.2 Google has further improved the Panorama feature in Android and renamed it Photo Sphere. Photo Sphere allows users to post 360 degree Panoramas much like the iPhone 5. Additionally it has revamped the camera UI and has introduced a gesture induced camera control dial that shows the camera features the user wants to manipulate.
Even the lock-screen has not been left alone and Google has brought the entire widget framework found on the homescreen to the lock screen. This means users can have widgets on the lock-screen and also can scroll through different screens which have different widgets.
Google has also added a quick setting menu to Android something that most OEMs add in their Android customizations. In Android 4.2, Google has added a button to the pull-down menu that enables it. If faster access is needed then users can call up the quick setting menu via two-finger pull down gesture.
Another big feature on Android 4.2 is support for multiple user accounts. For a long time users have asked for this feature and Google has finally implemented it, though it works both on tablets and smartphones alike.
Other features of Android 4.2 include an improved Google Now that now supports information about shipped products, restaurant reservations, flight information and also adds support for wireless displays.
